Cook Signs Extension Through 2026
January 20, 2022 | Volleyball
SEATTLE โ Four-time Pac-12 Champion Head Coach Keegan Cook has signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him leading the powerhouse Washington Volleyball program through the 2026 season.
ย
University of Washington Director of Athletics Jennifer Cohen announced the new deal. "Coach Cook has built a culture of excellence in all phases of his program," Cohen said. "He is an elite recruiter and developer, and his volleyball acumen is off the charts. His program has set an extremely high standardย and we are thrilled to have him continue to lead the young women associated with Washington volleyball."
ย
In his seven seasons as Head Coach, Cook has compiled a record of 178-45, a .798 win-percentage that is tied for sixth-best in Pac-12 history. In Pac-12 play, the Huskies have gone 107-33 under Cook for a .764 percentage that ranks him No. 5 in conference history.
"It's an incredible privilege and responsibility to be the Head Volleyball Coach at the University of Washington," said Cook. "I'd like to thank President Ana Mari Cauce, [Director of Athletics] Jen Cohen, and [Deputy Athletics Director] Erin O'Connell for this opportunity, for investing in our student-athletes, and for their leadership within an ever changing college athletics landscape.ย ย ย
ย
"I'd especially like to thank all of the student-athletes, staff, and their families who give so much of themselves to the success of this program. I'm proud of the women who represent this program and all they are able to achieve in their time on Montlake and how that time sets them up for success in the next stage of their lives. Washington has become home for our family and we are grateful for the entire Husky community. Go Dawgs!"
ย
Several more milestones were achieved during 2021, as Washington won the Pac-12 twice in one calendar year, winning the 2020 season that was delayed until spring of 2021 and then advancing to the Final Four for the first time since 2013. The Huskies then defended their Pac-12 title this fall, and reached the NCAA Round of 16 before dropping a heartbreaking five setter at No. 2-ranked Texas.
ย
Cook led UW to Pac-12 titles in his first two seasons, in 2015 and 2016, and the Huskies went back-to-back again this spring and fall. The four titles ties Cook with former USC coach Mick Haley for fourth-most in Pac-12 volleyball history.
ย
Washington has reached the NCAA Championship every year under Cook, extending the program's NCAA tourney streak to twenty. The Huskies have also made the Round of 16 in six of seven seasons under Cook.
ย
This fall, the Huskies had four players named to the AVCA All-America First, Second, or Third Team, the most of any team in the NCAA, and the most for a Husky team since 2006. Over his first seven seasons, Cook has helped 12 different players earn a total of 18 All-America honors.
ย
Cook capped off the memorable 2021 by becoming a father, as Cook's wife Sarah gave birth to a son, Oliver, in December.
