EUGENE, Ore. -- The Washington Huskies (17-24, 3-15) jumped out to an early lead, but couldn't hold on against the No. 11 Oregon Ducks (30-11, 14-7), losing by a score of 9-3 on Sunday afternoon.
In the top of the first, Noah Hsue and Christian Jones each singled to give UW runners on the corners and Will Simpson drove in Hsue thanks to an error, but still earned his team-best 30th RBI on the season.
After a solo home run by Oregon in the bottom of the inning to tie things at 1-1, Michael Brown launched a home run to left-center field, his fourth of the season, to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead.
The Ducks answered with another solo home run in the fourth to make it a 2-2 game, before exploding for a 5-run frame in the bottom of the fifth to take a 7-2 lead and seize control of the game. Two more solo home runs in the bottom of the seventh pushed the advantage to 9-2.
UW got a run back in the eighth when Noah Hsue scored his second run of the game on a double-play ball, but that would conclude the scoring for the afternoon.
Washington is back on the road in Pac-12 play on Friday, when it kicks off a three-game set in Tucson against No. 9 Arizona.
