Huskies Show Out On Senior Day In 2-0 Win
April 11, 2021 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – The #22 Washington Huskies rolled to a 2-0 victory over the Oregon State Beavers on Senior Day. Washington scored both its goals in the first half, then kept hunting for a third, ending the day with a 27-4 shot advantage. Summer Yates and Olivia Van der Jagt had the goals for Washington.
The win was Washington's seventh against a Pac-12 school and put its record at 9-3-2 overall and 5-3-2 in Pac-12 play, good for third in the conference. Washington has not had more than seven wins against Pac-12 schools since 2000, when it had a record eight.
This was the seventh shutout of the season for the Huskies, with five of those coming at home. Washington ends its home schedule having allowed just four goals at Husky Soccer Stadium, matching the school record set in 2010.
The Huskies had one of their most dominant halves of the year to start things. The Huskies held a stunning 14-2 shot advantage after 45 minutes, taking a 2-0 lead. The Huskies held the ball in the attacking half over 80% of the time during the first half. Four different Huskies individually outshot Oregon State in that time.
While the Huskies didn't score in the second half, it was just as impressive a showing. Washington had a 13-2 shot advantage in the final 45, not allowing a single shot on goal in that time. Both Van der Jagt and Ameera Hussen would end the day with more shots individually than the entire Oregon State team, while Yates and Sianna Siemonsma matched Oregon State with four shots each.
