Huskies Secure Second Straight WAC 101 Club Cup Win
March 10, 2021 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE – The #9 Washington Huskies scored early and often in a 4-0 win over the Seattle U Redhawks, keeping the WAC 101 Club Cup on Montlake. Dylan Teves started the scoring with his first of two goals just three minutes into the game.
This is the second straight win over Seattle U for the Huskies, who retain the WAC 101 Club Cup once again. Teves was named WAC 101 Club Cup MVP for the second straight year.
Teves had his first career brace in the game, scoring from the penalty spot for the third consecutive game in addition to his early goal. Lucas Meek and Christian Soto had goals in the second half as well. Charlie Ostrem, Imanol Rosales, and Kalani Kossa-Rienzi all picked up assists.
Sam Fowler made four saves in goal en route to the shutout. He now has a 200-minute shutout streak after tonight's clean sheet.
The Huskies carried a lead into halftime but took over the game in the second half, scoring three goals and outshooting Seattle U 10-7. Washington scored three goals in 20 minutes, with the final two goals coming in a five-minute span. Soto's goal was a particular bit of brilliance: the sophomore flipped into a bicycle kick on a high entry ball into the box from Kossa-Rienzi to put a exclamation point on the final score.
