SEATTLE - 10th-ranked Washington and 18th-ranked UCLA make for two of the marquee matchups of week four of Pac-12 volleyball this week. The Huskies (5-1) visit Pauley Pavilion this Friday and Sunday to take on the Bruins (4-2) with both teams looking to stay near the top of the early conference positioning. Friday's first meeting will start at 6 p.m. and be live streamed on Pac-12.com/Live. Sunday the match will be televised nationally on Pac-12 Networks starting at 3 p.m.
The Huskies are riding a five match win streak and are currently third in the Pac-12 behind 6-0 Utah and 4-0 Colorado. UCLA will be the first ranked opponent for the Dawgs this season. Last week the Dawgs went 2-0 against Oregon State led by some great serving and UW's strongest offensive week of the season thus far. Junior outside hitter Claire Hoffman hit .453 for the week and freshman Madi Endsley was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Tuesday behind 25 kills, 7 aces, and a .375 attack percentage. Ella May Powell also served up a storm with 8 aces along with 72 assists.
The Bruins opened the year with two wins over Cal, then split each of the past two weekends on the road at both Oregon and Washington State. UCLA is hitting .251 on the season thus far and holding opponents to a .205 mark. The Bruins are using a 6-2 rotation with Devon Chang and Kate Lane both setting. 2019 Pac-12 Player of the Year Mac May is back leading the offense with 4.65 kills per set and her nine aces lead the team. Zoe Fleck leads the defense with 3.74 digs per set while Emily Ryan is among the conference leaders with 1.30 blocks per set. Freshman Iman Ndiaye is hitting .301 with 2.13 kills per set. The Huskies will be trying to extend their L.A. success as UW has won the past six road matches at UCLA.
