SEATTLE – The #8 Washington Huskies started 2021 strong, winning 6-0 over Northwest University. It was Washington's biggest win since 2000, when the Huskies beat Cal 7-0. Nick Scardina led the way with his first career hat trick. Scardina's hat trick was the first by a Husky since Scott Menzies in 2017.

Scardina wasn't the only Husky to get in on the action in an offensive explosion by the Dawgs. Gio Miglietti, Christian Soto, and Kendall Burks all scored goals as well, with Burks' goal coming in his first game as a Husky.

Imanol Rosales had a two-assist game, the second of his career. Lucas Meek and Kalani Kossa-Rienzi also had assists.

The Huskies would end the game with an astounding shot advantage of 31-0, with 16 shots on goal. Nine different Huskies had multiple shots in the game, with Dylan Teves, Christian Soto, Charlie Ostrem, and Lucas Meek all managing three shots in the first half alone.

		SCORING
21' \| Soto started the scoring for the Huskies. A volley from a contested header fired back toward Soto, who ripped a shot back on goal for the score. 25' \| Rosales sent a perfect corner to the head of Burks, who redirected it past Northwest's flat-footed keeper to make it 2-0. 49' \| Scardina's first goal came from a lovely Kossa-Rienzi pass. The freshman curved a cross past the Northwest defenders to an onrushing Scardina, who flicked the ball along for the goal. 58' \| Another great redirect from Scardina made it 4-0. Meek sent a centering pass in, with Scardina managing to flick it toward goal while falling toward the corner. The shot found the far corner for the goal. 61' \| Scardina's final goal came unassisted and ended his night after 50 minutes of play, four shots, and the hat trick. 70" \| Imanol Rosales' corner kick found the head of Miglietti for the game's final goal as the senior found a free header for a laser into the net.

		NOTES
The six goals were Washington's most in a single game since 2000 and the fifth-most since 1990. Kossa-Rienzi was the first freshman to record a point in the first game of the season since Ryan Moore in 2009. The Huskies are now 9-1-0 in the first game of the season under Jamie Clark. Scardina entered the night with one shot on goal in his career.
