Washington Records Third Straight Shutout
February 26, 2021 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – The Washington Huskies started off Pac-12 play with a 0-0 tie against the Colorado Buffaloes. Washington had a resounding advantage offensively, firing 24 shots in the game and allowing only one on goal from Colorado. Ameera Hussen had seven shots on her own, just one less than the entirety of Colorado. Summer Yates, Ruby Hellstrom, and Karlee Stueckle all had four shots each.
Washington is 2-1-0 on the season after today's tie. Olivia Sekany was in net and recorded her third straight shutout, saving the only shot she faced.
Colorado did not have a shot on goal until the 104th minute in the second overtime. The Huskies controlled possession throughout and were quick to the ball, winning most every header and routinely killing Colorado possessions before they could get started. The Huskies managed eight corner kicks as well but could not score.
Washington had a penalty kick chance in the 62nd minute after Katie O'Kane was taken down from behind in the box, but that shot was saved away.
