Yates Brace Leads Huskies To 2-1 Win

SEATTLE – The Washington Huskies finished off a dominant 2-1 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes Sunday to move to 3-0-1 on the season. Summer Yates scored a brace for the Huskies, who peppered the goal with shots all game long.
Olivia Van der Jagt had two assists in the game. Shae Holmes and Ruby Hellstrom picked up assists as well, starting both goals from set pieces.
After outshooting Colorado 24-8 on Friday, the Huskies had a 24-5 advantage today, allowing just one shot on goal for the second game in a row. Hellstrom and Karlee Stueckle were dangerous all game, with five shots each. Yates and Ameera Hussen had four shots each, with Yates putting three on goal.
The Huskies had a 1-0 lead before Colorado even recorded a shot, taking the lead 18 minutes in. After Yates' late goal made the score 2-1, the Huskies locked down, allowing no shots and just one ball in the box in a frenetic final five minutes.
