
McDaniel Joins Huskies

SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies welcomed Kala McDaniel to the team today. The junior defender will join the Huskies for the 2021 campaign as a transfer.
McDaniel has spent the last two years at UC Irvine, where she started 36 of 37 possible matches over her freshman and sophomore seasons, playing in all 37. As a freshman, McDaniel earned Big West All-Freshman honors.
A native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, McDaniel played over 1500 minutes in each of her two years at UC Irvine, playing 1622 as a freshman and 1512 as a sophomore. Offensively, McDaniel was used to take corner kicks and managed 26 shots despite playing on the backline. She has scored four goals in her career, ending 2019 with goals in three consecutive games. She scored her first career goal on a penalty kick as a freshman. In all, McDaniel has ten points in her career.
McDaniel will be the fifth newcomer for the Huskies this season. She joins fellow transfer Elena Palacios as additions to Washington's already formidible defense, which includes All-Region honoree Kaylene Pang as well as senior Laura Roberts, sophomores Shae Holmes, Tasia Kravitz, and Helena Reischling, and redshirt freshman KK Cornell.
