All-America Honors Awarded To NCAA Qualifiers
May 26, 2020 | Track & Field
SEATTLE – Denied the chance to finish the indoor season in championship competition, Washington's NCAA Indoor Championships qualifiers were still recognized today as All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The athletes were assembled in New Mexico for the NCAA Indoor meet set for March 13-14 when the meet was canceled for Coronavirus concerns. Under normal circumstances, All-America honors would have been based on placing at the NCAA Indoor meet, with First Team honors for first-through-eighth and Second Team honors for ninth-through-sixteenth. This season, no distinction will be made for First or Second Team status.
Eleven Huskies are named All-Americans today, seven women and four men. The Husky women's squad had been hoping for a potentially historic NCAA Indoor performance, as it was ranked No. 8 nationally going into the meet.
