SEATTLE --- Washington men's tennis coach Matt Anger announced the addition of another talented student-athlete to the 2020-21 roster with the signing of Clement Chidekh this week.
"Clement is going to help our team right away," said Anger. "He has consistently performed at a high level and that reliability will help him come in with the confidence that he will start well. With Clement, Han Chih Lin, and Nikit Reddy, we have another great infusion of talent that really has our program on the rise.
Chidekh joins the team as a sophomore transfer from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon, France. This season, he earned his first ATP point in September at the Bagneres De Bigorre and defeated five players in the French Top 100.
Chihekh started playing tennis at the age of three and won a national singles tournament at the age of 13. He was ranked in the Tennis Europe Top 100 and won the Pont des Generations U16 title in 2017.
"Like (former UW players from France) Jean-Noel Insausti and Pierre Méténier before, I chose to join the Huskies to continue to evolve academically and tennistically," said Chidekh. "The idea of helping a team already excites me and I can't wait to meet the team that I will be working and playing with for the next three years."
