Huskies fall 4-0 to No. 1 USC
March 01, 2020 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE --- Washington (8-6, 0-2) suffered a tough 4-0 loss as it faced its second ranked Pac-12 opponent in three days in No. 1 USC in the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
"I think the match was a tough one on the heels of the match on Friday," said Head Coach Matt Anger. "Today we came out and when things were not going the way right away, all of a sudden, I think people started looking around and when everyone was going to save the day. That was not the case. On every court, we've got to make sure that we are taking care of our own business."
In doubles, the Trojans (13-1, 2-0) took the wins on No. 2 and No. 3 to get the point. On No. 1, Alexis Alvarez and Jack Davis were up on their opponent 5-3, but went unfinished.
In singles, the momentum continued USC's way as they took the matches on No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to clinch the match. Davis went back and forth with the No. 15-ranked singles player in DI, but the match ended in the second set going unfinished with Davis up 6-4, 4-3.
The Huskies will be back home for two more matches next week on March 6 hosting Minnesota at 5 p.m. and March 8 against Boise State at noon. Admission is free and pizza will be served in between the doubles and singles matches.
