Rino Sasaki Leads the Huskies after Round One of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The University of Washington women's golf team finished up round one of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge today, sitting in 12th place with a score of 20-over 304 with two rounds left to play.
Rino Sasaki led the way for the Huskies, shooting a 3-over 74. She started on the back nine with a double bogey, but found her footing quickly and rebounded with a birdie on the 10th hole. Sasaki followed up her first birdie of the day with three more after making the turn to end her round.
Karen Miyamoto was the second highest finisher for the Huskies after round one, locked in a tie for 49th. The senior finished the day with three birdies and a score of 5-over 76.
Martha Lewis and Brittany Kwon both finished tied for 60th, with 6-over 77. Lewis finished strong after making the turn onto the front nine, grabbing two birdies and three pars over the last seven holes of her round.
Alice Duan finished the day in 63rd with a 7-over 78. She started her round consistently, finding the hole for six straight pars.
The Huskies will get back on the course for round two on Monday at 8:30 a.m. PT.
