No. 14 Huskies Open Spring With Three Matches This Weekend

SEATTLE – The No. 14 ranked Washington women's tennis team opens the spring portion of its schedule this weekend, hosting Portland State at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, then facing Eastern Washington and Seattle U in back-to-back matches beginning at Noon on Sunday.
The Huskies open the spring schedule ranked No. 14 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll--the third-highest rated Pac-12 team in the rankings. Individually, senior Katarina Kopcalic closed out the fall schedule ranked No. 88 with junior Vanessa Wong ranked at No. 102. New individual rankings come out Feb. 5.
The match Saturday against Portland State will be the first match of the spring for both teams. The Vikings were 5-10, 2-8 in the Big Sky Conference last season.
Washington hosts a doubleheader Sunday, taking on Eastern Washington at 12:00 p.m. and Seattle U at 3:00 p.m. EWU and Seattle play each other to open the spring on Friday before heading to the Nordstrom Tennis Center for Sunday's matches. The Eagles posted a 12-10 record and finished at 8-2 in the Big Sky in 2019 while the Redhawks went 5-16 and 0-6 in the WAC last season.
