May 27, 2019 | Softball
SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies prepare for their third straight and 14th overall Women's College World Series this week, with the first game scheduled for 9:00 am PT against Pac-12 foe Arizona. Washington is the third overall seed in the tournament and playing on the right side of the bracket, alongside Arizona, UCLA, and Minnesota.

This last weekend, Washington reached 50 wins for the third consecutive year, beating #14 Kentucky twice to move on to the WCWS. Washington also guaranteed that the team will lose single-digit games this year, just the fourth time ever the Huskies have achieved that.
The Huskies shut out Kentucky in both games this weekend. Washington now has four shutouts in five postseason games, entering the World Series with only one run allowed this postseason. This is the second year in a row Washington has had at least four shutouts in the postseason.

POSTSEASON PLAIN | |
| Gabbie Plain threw another scoreless weekend during Super Regionals and now carries a 31.2 IP scoreless streak, the longest of her career. Plain has not allowed a run this postseason and has a career postseason ERA of 0.49 entering the World Series. She is 10-1 in her 12 postseason appearances, allowing 34 hits and 21 walks in 70.2 postseason innings, with 71 strikeouts. She has not allowed a run in seven of her 12 career postseason appearances and has only once allowed more than one run, giving up two in nine innings against Alabama last year. | ||

GOING YARD | |
| Morganne Flores hit another home run in Super Regionals, her fourth of this postseason and her eighth career postseason home run. Flores is just one postseason homer behind the all-time Washington record of nine, held by Jaime Clark. She is hitting .667 this postseason, with as many home runs as outs recorded. No opponent this postseason has managed to get Flores out twice in the same game. | ||

YOUNG RIBBIES | |
| Sami Reynolds drove in her 40th RBI during Super Regionals. That makes Reynolds the fourth freshman in the last 15 years to drive in 40 or more runs for the Huskies. She joins Ali Aguilar, Kaitlin Inglesby, and Shawna Wright in that distinction. Reynolds has hits in six of her last seven games and has driven in 11 runs in the last ten. | ||

TARAN ALVEL-WHOA | |
| Taran Alvelo made it 19 consecutive appearances without allowing more than two runs. Since allowing 15 runs in five innings against UCLA, Alvelo has allowed 13 runs in 94.2 innings. Without that one game, Alvelo has a 1.01 ERA on the season, a mark that would rank third in the country. Only four times in 37 appearances has an opponent scored more than two runs on Alvelo this year. | ||
