OKLAHOMA CITY – An extra-innings thriller went against the Washington Huskies, with the Arizona Wildcats winning 3-1 in eight innings. Home runs were the difference in the game, with Arizona hitting two to Washington's one solo shot. The Huskies brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the eighth but could not get another run across.

Sami Reynolds homered in the game, Washington's only run. Taryn Atlee reached safely in all four of her plate appearances, her first perfect day at the plate since going 4-for-4 against Cal State Fullerton earlier this year.

Taran Alvelo was excellent all day, retiring ten in a row after a leadoff walk in the game, including five straight strikeouts. She would strike out 11 total batters. Arizona did not manage a hit off Alvelo until the fourth inning, ending a streak of 9.1 hitless innings against Alvelo stretching back into the regular season.

		SCORING
Sixth Inning: Arizona hit a solo home run, just the second run Washington has allowed this postseason, both via solo homers. The Huskies tied it up almost immediately as Reynolds homered on the first pitch she saw the next half inning. Eighth Inning: Another Arizona home run, this time with a runner on, made it 3-1.

		NOTES
Reynolds (1x4, HR) is the first Husky freshman to homer at the World Series since Nikia Williams in 2009. Alvelo (8.0 IP, 6 H, 11 K) set a new postseason high in her career with 11 strikeouts. Alvelo joins Danielle Lawrie, Ashley Boek, and Jennifer Spediacci as the only Huskies ever with 275-strikeout seasons. Alvelo has thrown over 40 fewer innings than any of those pitchers did in those seasons. Amirah Milloy (2x3) has a three-game hit streak now. Atlee (2x2, 2B, 2 BB) reached the 60-hit plateau for the first time in her Husky career.

The Huskies will await the loser of UCLA-Minnesota, with that game set for Saturday, June 1 at 9:00 AM PT.
