Huskies Make Third Straight World Series
May 25, 2019 | Softball
SEATTLE – For the third consecutive year, the #3 Washington Huskies booked their ticket to the Women's College World Series, sweeping the #14 Kentucky Wildcats in Super Regionals with tonight's 5-0 victory. This is Washington's 14th WCWS trip in program history and seventh under Heather Tarr.
Washington continued its early scoring streak, scoring in the first inning for the fifth consecutive game. That one run was all Gabbie Plain and the Husky defense needed to secure Washington a WCWS trip. Plain earned her tenth postseason win in just her 12th postseason game. The sophomore allowed just two hits and one walk. Not a single Wildcat reached scoring position all game long.
The Huskies broke through offensively later in the game but threatened all night long, putting runners in scoring position in five of seven innings. Washington added insurance runs in both the sixth and seventh thanks to clutch hits by Noelle Hee and Taryn Atlee. Morganne Flores reached base three times, with two hits and a walk, while Emma Helm drew three walks in her four plate appearances.
The Huskies have advanced to the WCWS, which will take place next week.
