UW Climbs Leaderboard On Second Day Of Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – The Washington women's golf team is in sixth place after the second round of the Silverado Showdown. The Dawgs are at 18-over for the tournament after a 6-over round of 294 on Monday.
"We played pretty well but unfortunately could not close it out," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "We are close to putting it all together, we just need to stay focused for all 18 holes."
Sophomore Rino Sasaki is in 15th place after she shot a 2-under round of 70 to put her at 3-over for the tournament. Sasaki finished the round strong as she shot 3-under on the back nine.
Senior Julianne Alvarez carded a 3-over round of 75 on Monday and is tied for 23rd place at 5-over par.
Junior Karen Miyamoto is also tied for 23rd after she posted a 4-over round of 76. Miyamoto rolled in three birdies in her second round of play.
Senior Sarah Rhee bounced back after a tough first round with a 1-over 73. Rhee moved up 34 places on the leaderboard and is tied for 32nd place at 7-over par.
Junior Alice Duan shot a 6-over round of 78 in her second round at the Silverado Showdown and is tied for 54th place at 10-over par heading into the final round of play.
Northwestern is at even par and holds an 11 stroke lead over second place Stanford. Brooke Riley of Northwestern is the individual leader at 4-under par.
The Huskies are second in par-4 scoring in the field at +17. UW also leads the field in total pars recorded with 113 through two rounds.
Washington will tee off final round play in a shotgun start, beginning at 8 a.m. The Huskies will play with San Jose State and Oregon.
