
Washington Opens Home Season With Husky Classic

SEATTLE - The #6 Washington Huskies return to Montlake for their first home series of the 2019 season, hosting the annual Husky Classic. Washington will play Ohio State, Idaho State, Northern Illinois, and Seattle U over the course of a six-game weekend. Tickets for the weekend are available online, with each ticket good for all of the games on that day. There are no full weekend pass tickets.

Washington will look to end the non-conference season strong once again, entering this weekend with a 16-3 record that includes six wins over ranked opponents. The Huskies have played multiple ranked opponents each of the last three weeks and have played at least one ranked opponent every week entering this weekend.
The Huskies have not lost a game at the Husky Classic since 2008. Washington's home record over the last four seasons is 62-18. In non-conference play, that mark jumps to 39-1.

| Taran Alvelo broke her career-best mark for strikeouts in a single game twice last weekend, striking out 15 against #3 Florida before striking out 16 just two days later, against Fullerton, allowing no earned runs in either game. Alvelo joins Danielle Lawrie as the only Huskies ever with multiple games of 15+ strikeouts. Lawrie is the only other Husky to strikeout 15 or more in a seven-inning game as well. Lawrie, Ashley Boek, Jennifer Spediacci, and Caitlin Noble are the only other Huskies to record 15+ strikeouts. | ||

Β PLAIN PITCHING EXCELLENCE | |
| Gabbie Plain allowed a walk for the first time in seven appearances, breaking a streak of six games in which she struck out 31 and walked none. Plain has walked multiple batters in just 14 of her 43 career appearances. | ||

Β HITS-TER BATES | |
| At the Judi Garman Classic, Sis Bates recorded her 160th career hit in her 142nd career game. It was the fastest a Husky has reached 160 career hits since Ali Aguilar did so in 134 games. Bates is already in the top 30 in UW history in hits. Julia DePonte and Kaitlin Inglesby are the only Huskies everΒ with more hits that played fewer than 220 games. | ||

| Washington has used a different lineup in every game this year, using 19 different starting lineups in 19 games so far. Ten different Huskies have started at least ten games already. Only Taryn Atlee, Sis Bates, and Sami Reynolds have started all 19 games this year. | ||
