The No. 2-ranked Washington women's rowing team won all three of its races Saturday at the Husky Open on a sunny morning on Montlake Cut. On the men's side, the second-ranked Husky men's rowing team swept all five of its races.
The No. 7 Washington softball team recorded its 11th shutout this season, blanking Oregon State, 5-0, to clinch their second straight Pac-12 series victory. Washington scored during the third at-bat of the game and never looked back.
Husky track & field's Jonah Wilson picked up his breakout sophomore season right where he left off indoors, and built upon it in fact, as Wilson won the Stanford Invitational shot put title with an impressive career-best toss of 64-feet, 7.25-inches. That moves Wilson all the way up to No. 3 in UW school history and should rank him in the top-10 nationally so far this outdoor season.
The Washington women's golf team is in sixth place at 8-over par after shooting 3-over in the second round of play at the PING ASU Invitational. Junior Alice Duan lead the way for the Huskies on Saturday at Papago Golf Course as she shot a 4-under bogey free round of 68.
Connor Blair hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to bring Washington baseball back from a 6-3 deficit, but No. 7 Oregon State scored four runs in the seventh inning to break open a tie game and deny the Diamond Dawgs any chance at a big comeback Saturday in front of 2,161 fans at Husky Ballpark.
The Washington men's golf team finished fifth at 17-over par at The Goodwin on Saturday. The Dawgs shot 8-over in the third round and beat 21 out of the 26 teams in the field.
