Washington Finishes 10th At Lamkin Classic

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The Washington men's golf team completed the third round of play at the Lamkin San Diego Classic on Tuesday. The Huskies finished in 10^th place at 22-over par after shooting a 1-under par round of 287 in the final round at San Diego Country Club. The Dawgs third round 1-under score was the fourth best team score recorded on Tuesday.

"Much better from us today," said head coach Alan Murray. "The guys dug deep and responded really well. Paul shot 2-under and really had it going again. He is starting to get a real feel for college golf and is going to be a big player for us moving forward. Noah was back to his steady best and played a strong round of 2-under par. Jan bounced back well from yesterday's struggles and his even par with a good last few holes really helped the team today. Ranveer played in the lineup for only the second time and his scores counted in each round. He is a little raw but he should leave encouraged that he can help the team moving forward. Henry had an uncharacteristic off day. Form is temporary and class is permanent as they say so Henry will be back before long."

Freshman Paul Margolis shot his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, firing a 2-under round of 70 to finish at 7-over par and in a tie for 38^th place. Over three rounds, Margolis recorded 11 birdies and was 2-under on the Par 5's.

Sophomore Noah Woolsey finished tied for 38^th place at 7-over par after shooting a 2-under round of 70 in his final round of play. Woolsey recorded an eagle on the 14^th hole today en route to his 2-under round.

Junior Henry Lee ended his tournament at 8-over par and tie for 45^th after carding a 6-over 78 on Tuesday. Lee finished first in the final in total pars with 39 over his three rounds.

Freshman Ranveer Grewal posted a 3-over 75 in his third round to finish in a tie for 50^th place at 9-over par.

Sophomore Jan Schneider tied for 73^rd at 14-over par on the tournament as he shot an even par round of 72 on the day. Schneider rolled in nine total birdies over the course of the tournament.

Senior William Mansfield, playing as an individual, finished tied for 84^th place at 20-over par after shooting an 82 on Tuesday.

Fifth ranked Arizona State won the tournament at 10-under par, beating Texas by one stroke. Mason Anderson of Arizona State finished the tournament at 6-under par and won in a three-way playoff to take home the individual title.

"Our guys now have finals approaching," continued Murray. "They will get ready for that along with getting some work in before our next tournament at Stanford later this month."

Washington will next be in action on March 29-31 for The Goodwin at Stanford.
