SEATTLE – The Dawgs have dug out from last week's snowstorm and are ready to get things rolling in the Dempsey again with Friday's Last Chance College Elite Meet. New to the schedule this season, the meet will feature smaller fields and a more condensed schedule with visiting teams sending athletes seeking an extra chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
After Friday's collegiate and post-collegiate fields, Saturday will switch over to the prep ranks, as Washington hosts the UW High School Invitational from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m.
The Last Chance College Elite Meet gets going with field events on Friday at 2 p.m. and the track events start at 4 p.m. with the meet ending at 7 p.m. In one twist, the top heat of the men's mile will actually be held Saturday, during the High School Invitational, at 3:20 p.m.
Schools sending athletes in for the Last Chance Meet include Arizona, California, Oregon, UCLA and Washington State as well as Boise State, BYU, Seattle U and Columbia.

There will also be a 600-meter run with Ashley Sande racing that for the women and Oscar Herrera for the men.
The women's mile top heat boasts an impressive field for Friday. Katie Rainsberger and Allie Schadler, who both rank top-25 nationally in the mile coming in, will look to improve their seed times in a field that includes several Chinese professionals, along with former Husky Eleanor Fulton and several other former elite NCAA runners. The first heat also will see a big group of Huskies chasing season- and personal-bests: Sarah Carter, Emily Hamlin, Anna Maxwell and Hannah Waskom.
In the men's mile Nate Beamer, Tanner Anderson, Arthur Beyer and Alex Slenning will all race Friday. Saturday's invite section will have Mick Stanovsek looking to post an NCAA qualifier.
A couple Huskies will go in the 3,000-meters on Friday: Kiera Marshall and Nick Laccinole.
The final events on the track will be the distance medley relays. The Huskies will put together a men's squad looking to post an NCAA qualifying mark. That group is scheduled to be Stanovsek, Devan Kirk, Connor Morello, and Talon Hull.
The Huskies will have their vaulters on hand Friday led by Olivia Gruver and Chase Smith, entered unattached once again. Makenna Barton, Monica Cohen, Annika Dayton, Allyson Ely and Kim Kramers will compete on the women's side and Blaise Black, Zach Shugart and Joey Weiler go for the men.
