Washington Named Regional Coaching Staff Of The Year
December 06, 2019 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE --- After guiding the Huskies to one of their best seasons in program history, the University of Washington coaching staff led by Head Coach Jamie Clark has been recognized as the United Soccer Coaches Far West Coaching Staff of the Year.
Clark along with Associate Head Coach Jeff Rowland and assistants Richard Reece and Raphael Cox have guided the Huskies to 17 wins for just the fifth time in program history, their third Pac-12 title with their most conference wins ever and their second trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
In addition, Washington was ranked No. 1 in the NCAA/United Soccer Coaches poll for the third-time ever, finishing ranked No. 4 overall.
The Huskies have been dominant on both sides of the ball. Washington posted 12 shutouts while allowing just 12 goals, the fourth-best shutout percentage (.600) and fifth-lowest goals against average (0.595) in the NCAA. On the other side of the field, the offense has been clicking all season as the Huskies led the Pac-12 and rank 12th in the NCAA in scoring offense (2.20 g/gm).
Back in November, Clark guided the Huskies to a near sweep of the Pac-12 awards, being earning his second Pac-12 Coach of the Year honor with Blake Bodily being named Pac-12 Player of the Year and Ethan Bartlow earning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Washington looks to continue its run through the NCAA Tournament, playing at Georgetown on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 9:00 a.m. in a quarterfinal match.
