11 Named To Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll
December 19, 2019 | Women's Soccer, Student-Athlete Academic Services
SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced the Academic Honor Roll for fall sports today. 11 Huskies were named to the Honor Roll: Isabella Castro, Shae Holmes, Lisa Jensen, Claudia Longo, Cassidy Lucht, Vanessa Millsaps, Kaylene Pang, Laura Roberts, Taylor Sekyra, Olivia van der Jagt, and MaKayla Woods.
This is the first year of the Academic Honor Roll, which replaces the Academic All-Pac-12 teams as the Pac-12's way to honor those athletes who have also excelled academically.
Washington has now had ten or more athletes honored academically by the Pac-12 in three of the last four years. The 11 honorees are just behind Washington's all-time record of 12, which has been reached four times and was last accomplished in 2017.
Pang, Castro, Jensen, Sekyra, and van der Jagt have all earned multiple academic honors in their careers now. For Sekyra, this is her fourth time being so honored after having earned Pac-12 All-Academic each of the last three years. That sets a school record for academic honors. For Jensen, this is her third such honor, earning All-Academic or Academic Honor Roll every year she was eligible for the award.
Pang, Castro, and van der Jagt all earned their second consecutive academic honors from the Pac-12. Pang was also named a Scholar All-Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches this season.
For Holmes, Longo, Lucht, Millsaps, Roberts, and Woods, this is the first academic award. This is the first year that any of those individuals have been eligible for a conference academic award as well, as the Pac-12 requires that athletes be in their second season at an institution or in graduate school.
