They're Back: Huskies Report For Fall Camp
September 17, 2018 | Baseball
SEATTLE -- Summer may be coming to a close and fall may be rapidly approaching, but on Monday at Husky Ballpark, spring was definitely in the air. The Husky Baseball team reported for its version of "Spring Training" and started individual workouts at the Diamond on Montlake, marking the first time the team has officially taken the field since their historic College World Series run in 2018.
"It's exciting to see all the new guys working with our returners, and we're determined to pick up right where we left off (last season)," Husky Coach Lindsay Meggs said. "I really like this group and we're really excited to get started."
Ten new faces will join 25 returners to form the 2019 version of the Huskies. It is a group that contains two All-Pac-12 Players from last year, including junior catcher Nick Kahle and senior Joe Wainhouse. The return of WainhouseΒ after being granted another year of eligibility from the NCAA was an especially nice gift for Meggs andΒ the Huskies.

"You're always excited when a new season comes around but the fact that Joe is back to build on what he did last year is a "Β We think he is one of the premier hitters in the country and that makes us feel like we have a presence in the middle of the batting order. If he can build on last year and match those numbers and potentially improve on them, he might be the premier power hitter in the country."
The UW coaches will hold individual workouts for the next week before the team officially gathers for full-squad practices next Monday, Sept. 24.
