DeMers Recognized As National Gold Glove Pitcher

The 2018 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Teams have been released by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods in nine divisions of amateur baseball, from NCAA Div. I to High School, and Washington junior, Joe DeMers, was named theΒ Division I representative at pitcher.
DeMers, who was selected in the 11th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by Oakland, was the Huskies' ace on the mound with a 7-3 record and 2.42 earned run average in 130 1/3 innings. While his arm was electric all year, perhaps the most underrated part of DeMers' game has been his defense, as he did not commit an error in 33 chances. He also was credited with startingΒ four double plays and had a total of 10 turned behind him.
The Rawlings Gold Glove winners have been selectedΒ since 2007 in the collegiate and high school ranks, featuring many future Major League Baseball players.
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are selected by ABCA coaches committees at each level: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and High School.
