Foley Clinches Road Win at No. 35 Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – Clinched by Piers Foley at No. 6 singles, Washington men's tennis picked up a huge road win at No. 35 Utah on Friday.
To start the match, the Huskies (12-10, 2-4 Pac-12) dropped the doubles point to the Utes (19-5, 2-3 Pac-12). However, they bounced back in singles, winning four of the matches.
Freshman Jack Davis finished first in singles, taking his match in two sets, 6-3, 6-4. Enzo Sommer followed that up with a win of his own. He needed extra games in both sets, but he pulled out the close wins, 7-5, 7-5.
Utah picked up a singles win at the No. 4 spot, taking it in two. The Dawgs responded by taking another point on court one. No. 73 Mitch Stewart battled with No. 115 Dan Little, going to three sets. Stewart took set one, 6-4, but Little dominated the second set, 6-1. In the third set, Stewart got back the momentum and cruised to a 6-1 win.
At No. 6 singles, Foley came through for Washington. Like Stewart, Foley's match went to three set. He also won the first set and lost the second. In the third set, he won 6-2 to clinch the win for his team.
