Washington Just Misses 197 In Final Home Meet

SEATTLE – In the final home competition of the season, the #8 Washington GymDawgs recorded a score of 196.950, falling just short of a school-record fifth 197 but making it three straight meets with a score over 196.900. Hailey Burleson picked up two event titles, winning vault and floor. Madison Copiak set a career high on vault, while Kristyn Hoffa and Zoey Schaefer each had career highs on floor.
Washington broke its season high on floor, putting up a team score of 49.475. It was the second week in a row that the GymDawgs have broke their season high on floor. In all, the GymDawgs recorded five individual scores of 9.900 or higher, led by Burleson's 9.925 on floor.
"There were a lot of amazing things that happened throughout the meet, but also many mistakes," said head coach Elise Ray-Statz. "We will take the good to build confidence and learn from the rest. Nonetheless, it was a special night to honor such a special group of seniors."

Vault, 49.075 – Burleson and Copiak tied for the event title on vault, with each putting up a score of 9.875. For Copiak, that was a career-best performance on vault. Hoffa tied her career high on vault with a score of 9.850.
Bars, 49.150 – Monica Riley again led the GymDawgs on bars, putting up yet another score of 9.900. Riley has now put up a 9.900 or better on bars in five meets this year, including three straight. Evanni Roberson had her second-highest bars score of her career with a 9.875, bested only by last week's score of 9.900.
Beam, 49.250 – Washington continued to excel on beam, with five competitors going over a score of 9.800. Roberson had the team's highest score with a 9.900, her fifth consecutive week with a beam score of 9.900 or higher. Copiak and Malory Rose put up scores of 9.850, while Burleson and Schaefer recorded scores of 9.825.
Floor, 49.475 – The GymDawgs set a new season high on floor, putting up a team score of 49.475. Every competitor had a score of 9.850 or higher, led by Burleson's season-high score of 9.925, matching her output from last week. Hoffa and Schaefer each had scores of 9.900 on floor, marks that matched Hoffa's career high and set a new season high for Schaefer. Roberson also recorded a score of 9.875 in the event, while Nelson had a score of 9.850.

Washington will head to the Pac-12 Championships next, set for Saturday, March 24 at 1:00 pm in Tucson, Arizona. That will be the final competition of the regular season before NCAAs, with Regionals beginning April 7.
