February 28, 2018 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE – In the last weekend before Pac-12 play begins, No. 47 Washington men's tennis is hosting two matches against No. 33 Minnesota and Portland State on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The Huskies (7-4) are ranked No. 47 in the latest ITA Men's National Team Rankings as released on Tuesday. The Dawgs are coming off of a 7-0 win over Seattle in the Nordstrom Tennis Center on Saturday. No. 57 Mitch Stewart and No. 73 Jake Douglas lead the team, each with just one loss in singles.
Minnesota is 6-3, 1-0 in Big Ten play. The Gophers have yet to win a match on the road in two attempts. Their match in Seattle is the first of a four-match road trip. Minnesota is led in singles by No. 45 Stefan Milicevic and in doubles by No. 58 Matic Spec and Felix Corwin.
Portland State (6-4, 3-1 Big Sky) has the same road record as Minnesota so far in 2018, dropping both matches so far. PSU will face Seattle on Friday before the match against Washington on Saturday.
Friday's match against Minnesota will begin at 5 p.m. PT and Saturday's against Portland State is at 3 p.m. PT. Outdoor season officially begins in March and, with weather permitting, the Huskies will host these matches at the Quillian Tennis Stadium. If the weather conditions are not suitable for tennis, matches will be held in the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Links for live streaming and scoring can be found on the men's tennis schedule page.
