Washington Takes Down Stanford At Home
February 25, 2018 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE – The #10 Washington GymDawgs had a triumphant return home, defeating the #22 Stanford Cardinal 196.475-195.450. Evanni Roberson won the beam event title with her career-high score of 9.925, while Hailey Burleson won the floor title.
The GymDawgs set a new season-high score on beam with their team score of 49.425. It was their highest score on beam since March 18 of last season at the Pac-12 Championships. Three GymDawgs had scores of 9.900 or better: in addition to Roberson's career high, Burleson and Joslyn Goings tied for second place with their scores of 9.900.
Head coach Elise Ray-Statz was happy with Washington's performance but saw the potential to keep improving after two team scores of 197 the last two weeks. "Tonight was a really good example of a little bit of softness in the competition whereas last week everything was just a little sharper," said Ray-Statz. "It's a very small difference at this point but it means a great deal."
