LA QUINTA, Calif. --- Washington's men's golf team posted a final-round 299 to finish tied for 14th at 36-over 604 on Wednesday at The Prestige at the Greg Norman course at PGA West.
The Huskies finished the weather-shortened event on Wednesday without the services of their No. 1 player--Carl Yuan, who had to withdraw with an undisclosed injury. Noah Woolsey picked up the slack for Washington from the No. 2 position, carding an even-par 71 to finish tied for 42nd overall in medalist play at 7-over 149 (78-71). Woolsey had four birdies on the day including back-to-back birdies on the final two holes of the round.
Frank Garber also had a solid final round with a 2-over 73 and would finish tied for 52nd at 9-over 151 (78-73). Garber had 14 pars on the day to go along a birdie en route to his two-over finish. He finished tied with Henry Lee in the individual standings at 9-over 151 (74-77). Lee was four-over on the front nine, but closed out the day with a 2-over on the back nine, finishing at 6-over 77.
Shamu Bodhidatta wrapped things up for the Huskies with a 7-over 78, dropping five strokes off his score of 83 in the opening round to finish at 19-over 161.
"We are disappointed with the week," said Head Coach Alan Murray. "Frank and Noah had better days today. We have some improving to do and we play again in two weeks."
The Huskies return to action at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas March 5-7.
