November 06, 2018 | Women's Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO - Washington's Summer Yates was named to the Pac-12's All-Freshman Team today. Yates is the ninth Husky ever to be named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and the first to do so since 2015.
"Summer is a crafty and skillful attacking player who sets a great tempo for the game in the midfield," said Lesle Gallimore. "Her experience playing at this level in the Pac-12 is going to give her a lot of motivation to continue to improve and work on being even better moving forward."
This year, Yates finished second on the team in scoring, with three goals and two assists. She led the Huskies in shots with 43 on the year, the most by a freshman since 2015. Yates started 14 games for Washington and appeared in all 19. In the last eight years, only Kimberly Keever, Jaclyn Softli, and Kelcie Hedge have scored more points for the Huskies as a freshman.

A Washington native, Yates scored her first career goal in just her second appearance, against Cal State Fullerton. She would add a gamewinner later in the year, assisting on the tying goal against Utah Valley before scoring the winner just four minutes later. Yates also scored a goal against Wisconsin at the Husky Nike Classic. Ten times Yates managed multiple shots in a game, with seven shots against Michigan State alone. Yates also had a six-shot game against Utah Valley, where she earned a goal and an assist, and five more in the 5-0 win over Seattle U.84' | Yates with the steal and an absolute laser into the net for the lead!#GoHuskies // #BowDown pic.twitter.com/MqRQKv3nKj
