HAWAII --- The Washington women's golf team completed the second round at play at the Pac-12 Preview on Tuesday, shooting a 7-over par round of 299. The Huskies are tied for eighth place at 11-over par. Senior Wenyung Keh is tied for fifth place at 2-under par, after carding a 2-over par round of 75 in her second round.
Keh followed up her eight birdie performance on Monday with three more birdies in her second round. Her 11 total birdies through two rounds lead the field as well as being tied for first in Par-4 scoring at 4-under. Keh will head into the final round of play four shots off of the individual lead.
"We played well for the majority of our round," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "Unfortunately we did not handle the wind that kicked up for the final five to seven holes. We just tried to do too much instead of accepting the fact that par is a great score. Maintaining discipline needs to be a priority for us."
The Huskies lead the field in total birdies through the first two rounds with 39, three ahead of California.
Senior Sarah Rhee posted four birdies in her round of 74, and she sits at 5-over for the tournament and tied for 34th place. Sophomore Rino Sasaki shot a 1-over round of 74 in her second round which puts her in a tie for 39th place.
Senior Julianne Alvarez is tied for 39th place at 6-over par after posting a 3-over round of 76 in her second round. Junior Karen Miyamoto is also tied for 39th after she carded a 5-over round of 78.
Cal leads the tournament at 3-under par and sits two shots ahead of Stanford and Colorado. Yu-Sang Hou of Arizona at 6-under par leads the individual tournament by one stroke over Katherine Zhu of California.
The Huskies will tee off final round play at 9:30 a.m. PT, playing alongside Arizona, Arizona State and USC.
