Washington Completes First Day Of Jack Kramer Invitational

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. --- The Washington men's tennis team completed the first day of play at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational on Thursday. Three Huskies won singles Round of 64 matches in the morning however UW went winless in the round of 32.
Sophomore Alexis Alvarez took down Jack Kite 6-1, 6-0 in his first match of the day. Alvarez then fell to Jaede from USC 0-6, 4-6.
Freshman Adam Torocsik beat Benjamin Gajardo from BYU 6-4, 6-3 in the Round of 64 but then lost to Jake DeVine 6-0, 6-4 in the Round of 32.
Senior Sebastian Hawken defeated Ian Witmer from Georgetown 6-0, 7-6 in his first matchup of the day. Hawken lost in the Round of 32 to Eric Hahn from UCLA 3-6, 3-6.
Freshman Ernesto Turegano earned a bye into the Round of 32 where he dropped his match to Tomas Vaise from SMU 6-7, 2-6.
Freshman Kasper Smith also received a bye into the Round of 32 where he went up against Michael Genender from Stanford, falling 2-6, 1-6.
Freshman Ewen Lumsden first match of the day occurred in the Round of 32 where he fell to Mathew Pearce from BYU 6-1, 5-7, 2-6.
In the lone doubles matchup of the day, Lumsden and Smith took on Cernuda and Grande from Georgteown. The Husky pair would fall 5-8.
The Huskies will compete in singles consolation play beginning on Friday as well as Round of 16 doubles play.
