October 30, 2018 | Baseball
SEATTLE β Fall ball came to a close for Washington on Tuesday at Husky Ballpark with the third game of the Purple and Gold World Series. The Purple squad won for the third time, this time downing the Gold team, 4-1.
Β
Purple scored all four of its runs in the fourth inning, breaking open a scoreless deadlock. Noah Hsue and Joe Wainhouse reached on back-to-back singles to start the frame and Mason Cerrillo drove home the first run of the game with a double off the wall in right field. Ramon Bramasco collected a one-out RBI single for the second run and freshman Colton Cassinelli drove home Cerrillo with a double the opposite way down into the left-field corner. Bramasco scored the final run on a passed ball to give Purple the 4-0 lead.
Β
Gold got a run back in the fifth inning on a Michael Petrie fielder's choice ground out that scored Christian Jones, who singled to open the inning, but that was the only offense they could muster on the day.
Β
Freshman David Rhodes was perfect through the first three innings for Gold before hitting a bump in the road in the fourth. He ended up striking out four in three innings of work.
Β
Dylan Lamb worked 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the winning decision for Purple. He struck out two and scattered three hits.
Β
The Husky Baseball team now will partake in individual workouts for most of November and then compete in their Omaha Games before the Christmas break.
