Top Of Order Leads Way In 8-2 Win For Purple

SEATTLE - The top of the Purple squad's order -- Mason Cerrillo, Joe Wainhouse and Nick Kahle -- led their team to an 8-2 victory over the Gold team on Monday at Husky Ballpark. The win clinched the Purple and Gold World Series for the Purple team after they beat Gold, 4-1, on Saturday.
The veteran trio at the top of the order were a combined 5 for 12 at the plate with seven runs scored and four RBIs. Cerrillo was 2 for 4 with a triple, double and three runs scored. Wainhouse was 1 for 4 with two runs scored, a RBI and stolen base. Kahle finished the game 2 for 4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
Ben Baird contributed two hits in four at bats and drove in two runs, while Kaiser Weiss was 2 for 4 with a RBI.
Jack DeCooman started for the Purple squad and struck out five batters over 2 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs on four base hits.
The Purple bullpen -- Dylan Lamb, Adam Davenport and Leo Nierenberg -- combined for 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
The Gold team was led by first baseman Jonathan Schiffer, who had two for the team's six hits and drove in a run. Braiden Ward also drove in a run with a RBI single and collected a stolen base.
The teams will scrimmage again on Tuesday at Husky Ballpark, starting around 3:30 p.m.
