UW Heads to Pullman to Wrap Up Three-Straight Pac-12 Road Games

UW wraps its three-game road swing to open conference play on Saturday as it heads to Pullman to take on Washington State. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks with Greg Heister and Dan Dickau on the call. Additionally, fans can tune into KOMO 1000AM and 97.7 FM to hear the official UW radio broadcast from Tony Castricone and Jason Hamilton. This will be the 286th meeting between the in-state rivals with UW owning the series 181-104.

The Coach
Head Coach Mike Hopkins is in his first year at Washington, and first as a head coach becoming the 19th head coach in UW history. After spending 22 years as an assistant at Syracuse, Hopkins oversaw teams that reached the NCAA Tournament 16 times including the 2003 National Championship, four Final Fours, five Elite Eights and 10 Sweet 16s along with four NIT berths. Syracuse never dipped below a 55.0 percent record while Hopkins was on staff.

• Against the Cougs, junior Noah Dickerson is averaging 14.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and shooting 58.5 percent in his four contests against WSU

• Washington has had fewer turnovers than its opponents in 10 of its 15 games and are 8-2 in those outings
• Junior Noah Dickerson is one of two Pac-12 players averaging at least 15.4 points and 7.8 rebounds while also shooting at least 60 percent from the field (60.8FG%), joining Arizona's Deandre Ayton (19.7 ppg/11.9 rpg/61.9FG%)
• UW shot 67.3 percent from the field (37-of-55) against USC ... it's highest shooting percentage since at least 2002-03 .. it's the second time UW has shot over 62 percent from the field this season (62.7 percent vs. BCU) and was the second time in a three-game span
• Starting with the Kansas game, sophomore Sam Timmins has been 22-of-31 from the field, shooting at a 71.0 percent clip with nine blocks. Fourteen of his 23 made FGs (60 percent) in that span have come from dunks.
• UW is the only team in the NCAA to record 16 steals and 15 blocks in the same game this season after doing so against BCU .. since the 2011-12 season only one other school has recorded those numbers in a single game ... Syracuse (12/28/2011 - 17 steals, 15 blocks - v. Seton Hall)
• UW's 10 wins in non-conference play tied for the second most since 2005-06 ... UW had 11 wins in 2014-15, 10 in 2006-07 and 10 in 2005-06
• Washington is one of three schools nationally averaging at least 5.5 blocks and 8.9 steals per game joining Penn State (6.1blks/9.1stls) and Eastern Michigan (6.0blks/10.1stls)
• Freshman Jaylen Nowell is the second leading freshman scorer in the Pac-12 and the leading freshman guard as he is leading the Dawgs with 16.4 points per game
• Freshman Jaylen Nowell has scored six of his 13 total career threes over the last five games
• Since moving into the point guard position, junior David Crisp has dished out 52 assists which is up from his 45 over the first 15 games a year ago and 27 over the first 15 games as a freshman ... he is also leading the team in minutes at 35.3 per game
• Junior Matisse Thybulle currently has 79 career blocks, which is five shy of cracking the top 10 on UW's all-time career list (10th - 84, Patrick Femerling, 1996-98)
• Junior Matisse Thybulle is creating scoring on the direct next possession of 68.1 percent (32 of 47) of his 47 steals this year ... over the last two years he is creating scoring on 58.0 percent (65 of 112) of the next possession and for his career he is at 57.6 percent (87 of 151 steals)
•UW is shooting 78.5 percent from the FT line in final five minutes of its 15 games and that goes up to 80.9 percent in the final two minutes ... UW has not been that efficient from the FT line during those two spans since at least 2002-03 (stats not kept as well before that)
