SEATTLE – Washington women's tennis kicks off the 2018 season with a trip to Hawai'i to face the Rainbow Warriors on Friday.
After a strong fall season that ended with two players being ranked, the Huskies are ready to start the regular season. In 2017, they finished with a 17-10 record (5-5 Pac-12). The team made it to the NCAA tournament and fell to Clemson, 4-2.
Junior Stacey Fung is ranked No. 6 in the ITA rankings and freshman Vanessa Wong made it in the rankings as well at No. 115. Last season, Fung advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championships.
The 'Bows hosted the Weinman Foundation Invitational last week to warm up before dual matches begin. Two of their players, Nikola Dolakova and Klara Pribylova, are both undefeated in singles, each with a 5-0 record. In 2017, Hawai'i finished with a 16-7 record with current sophomore Petra Melounova earning a bid to the NCAA singles championship.
The dual match begins at 3 p.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex. Follow along on Twitter for live updates throughout the match.
