
Huskies to Compete at William H. Tucker Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Washington men's golf team continues it's 2017-18 fall campaign as it heads to the William H. Tucker Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico at UNM's South Course, which plays at par-72, 7,556 yards. UW will be paired with Colorado State, UTEP and BYU, teeing off at 6:45 a.m. PT. The teams will play 36 holes on Friday followed by 18 on Saturday.
THE FIELD (GolfWeek ranking): Washington will be joined by 16 other teams: Arizona, BYU, Cal State –Fullerton, Colorado (22), Colorado State (6), Denver, Louisiana Tech, UNLV (36), Nevada (30), host New Mexico, New Mexico State, UT – Arlington, UTEP (47), San Diego, San Diego State and Washington State.
THE LINEUP: The Huskies will send junior Carl Yuan, sophomore Henry Lee, freshman Noah Woolsey, senior Frank Garber and freshman Jan Schneider. Sophomore Shamu Bodhidatta will be playing as an individual.
LAST TIME OUT: The Dawgs finished fifth at the season-opening Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio. The weather-shortened event was just 36 holes as the final 18 on the second day were cancelled due to lightning and weather in the area. Washington carded a 1-over 569 and were led by sophomore Henry Lee who finished tied for sixth (4-under 138). Senior Frank Garber also finished in the top 25 as he recorded a 1-over 143.
LAST SEASON AWARDS: The Huskies had a pair of standouts, including one returner, last season in Corey Pereira and Carl Yuan who both earned PING All-West Region Honors. Yuan was also an All-Pac-12 Second Team honoree and led the team a year ago with 71.57 scoring average. He posted six top 20, two top-10 and one top-five finish during his sophomore campaign and also led the Dawgs at the Pac-12 Championships with a tie for fourth place.
LAST SEASON RESULTS: Under the direction of Alan Murray in his first year with the Huskies, Washington ended the 2016-17 season by appearing in the NCAA Regional, posting a seventh place finish at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Washington.
NEW STAFF: This summer, Washington welcomed Thomas Sutton as an assistant coach for the Dawgs. Murray came to Seattle having spent the last two seasons in the same role at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Sutton is a former men's golf student-athlete at UAB from 2011-14, competing in 47 events throughout his career. UW head coach Alan Murray coached Sutton throughout his career in Birmingham.
