Former Diamond Dawg Kittredge Gets MLB Call From Rays
July 18, 2017 | Baseball
Former UW pitcher Andrew Kittredge was called up by the Tampa Bay Rays from Triple-A Durham for his first taste of Major League action. The righty was 5-1 with a 1.90 earned run average in 30 games for the Bulls this season.
Kittredge, who lettered at Washington in 2009 and 2010, is in his seventh season of professional baseball -- his first with Tampa Bay after being traded from Seattle during the off-season.
A native of Spokane, Wash. and Ferris High School, Kittredge led the Huskies in strikeouts in 2009 and 2010 and led the team in innings pitched and wins in 2010.
When Kittredge sees the mound for the Rays, he will become the second Husky to play in the Majors this season. Jake Lamb is in the midst of a breakout season that saw him named a National League All-Star for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
