VISALIA, Calif. -- Former Husky standout Braden Bishop was named MVP of the California League All-Star game on Tuesday after going 4-for-4 with a triple, double and two stolen bases to lead the North squad to a 5-3 win over the South squad.
Bishop came up a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in the High-A league All-Star game. The 2015 All-Pac-12 player and defender for the Huskies doubled in his first at bat, singled in his next two plate appearances and tripled in his final swing in the seventh inning.
Bishop entered the All-Star week with a .309/.411/.403 slash line for Modesto, a farm club of the Seattle Mariners. He has scored 57 runs in 62 games and also stolen 13 bases on the year for the Nuts. Bishop ranks second in the Cal League in runs scored and on-base percentage, and is 10th in hits with 75.
