Minier Selected By White Sox In Final Day Of Draft

SEATTLE – Washington senior left-handed pitcher Greg Minier was selected in the 32nd round, 932nd overall by the Chicago White Sox in the final day of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday.
Minier was the fourth Husky selected over the three-day draft. He joins Joey Morgan (Detroit Tigers, 3rd round), Noah Bremer (Texas Rangers, 6th round) and Jack Meggs (Oakland A's, 10th round), who were picked in the second day of the draft on Tuesday.
In 2017, Minier (Oxnard, Calif.) was 2-2 with a 3.53 ERA in 43.1 innings pitched. He appeared in 33 games, tying for third most in UW single-season history.
Over two seasons at Washington, Miner was a workhorse for the Huskies appearing in 67 games – including six starts. He compiled a 7-3 record with a 3.72 ERA in 101.2 innings.
Minier also excelled in the classroom, earning honorable mention All-Academic honors in 2017.
Minier becomes the 29th player selected in the Draft since coach Lindsay Meggs took over the Washington program in 2010.
