FINAL CONFERENCE SERIES
This weekend, the Washington Huskies will conclude the regular season at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. The games against No. 8/9 Huskies and No. 13/14 Utes are set for 6 p.m. PT on Thursday, 5 p.m. PT on Friday and 12 p.m. PT on Saturday. All three games will be aired live on the Pac-12 Network with Elise Woodward and Teri Goldberg on the air.
LAST SERIES
Last weekend, Washington wrapped up their season at home against Stanford University. The Huskies went 2-1 on the weekend, winning the first and final games. Junior first baseman, Kirstyn Thomas, blasted a walk-off solo home run off the first pitch in the seventh inning for a 1-0 Washington win over Stanford, Friday night. On Saturday, they fell to the Cardinal 0-6 with one hit from Taylor Van Zee. On Sunday, they beat Stanford in five innings after a 10-2 win. Taylor Van Zee pounded a home run in the first to collect the Purple and Gold's first three runs of the game. Six Huskies combined for the team's 13 hits on the day, the third-most hits in one game this season. Julia DePonte, Morganne Flores and Sis Bates led the offense with three hits apiece. Flores knocked in five RBIs in Washington's five-inning rout over the Cardinal.
BATES NAMED FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR FINALIST
Washington softball freshman Sis Bates is one of 11 Finalists selected for the 2017 Schutt Sports / NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award, the NFCA announced on Thursday. Bates is one of five finalists selected from the Pac-12 Conference. The Ceres, Calif., native is Washington's first finalist for the prestigious award. Bates leads the Huskies and Pac-12 in triples (5) and is the team leader for hits (55). The freshman has started all 51 games this season, playing at second base, third base and shortstop.
AGUILAR EARN 2017 ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS
For the second time in her career, Ali Aguilar earned Capital One Academic All-District honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America on May 4. She earned first team recognitions after her hard work in the classroom and solid play on the field. With this award, she will move on to the national ballot for the Academic All-American team. Aguilar has started in 45 games this season, playing at shortstop. She has a .348 average after knocking in 45 runs off 48 hits, including nine home runs. She currently boasts a 3.64 cumulative GPA as a sociology and communication double major.
HUSKIES AT A GLANCE
>> Washington's 3-2 win over No. 7 Minnesota marked Coach Tarr's 500th win as Washington head coach. She finished the weekend with her 504th win.
>> Sophomore ace Taran Alvelo (23-6) threw a three-hitter against No. 7 Minnesota and didn't give up a single run and allowed only three hits over five innings. The three hits marked the fewest for Minnesota this season.
>> During the team's second game against Arizona State, freshman pitcher Samantha Manti earned a career high nine strikeouts. She started back-to-back games in the double header, pitching ten innings, ten strikeouts and giving up only six hits.
>> Morganne Flores hit four home runs in five at bats in the Husky Classic. The sophomore catcher totaled for eight runs, nine hits and 12 RBIs on the weekend. Flores leads the team in home runs with ten.
>> Morganne Flores hit three doubles against Oregon to help the Huskies give the Ducks their first home losses of the season. She had four RBIs in the game.

>> The Huskies are coming off a run in the post-season in 2016 where the team ended the season at Super Regionals against Alabama. Last season marked the program's 13th Super Regional appearance and 24th appearance in the post season overall.
>> Washington is led-off at the plate by All-American Ali Aguilar, who returns for her final season. Aguilar is currently ranked seventh in program history for most runs scored with 177, eighth for RBI's with 168 and sixth for doubles with 46. Last season, Aguilar recorded 21 home runs, the fourth most for one season in program history.
>> Juniors Julia DePonte and Taylor Van Zee also return to the lineup as power hitters for the Dawgs. Last season Van Zee totaled 16 doubles and DePonte recorded four triples.
A CLOSER LOOK: UTAH
Utah dropped three spots in the latest NFCA/USA Today national rankings to No. 13. Last week, it was ranked No. 10 in the country, its high-water mark for the season. Utah ranks 18th nationally in scoring at 5.8 runs per contest and is 27th nationally with a team batting average of .311. Hannah Flippen has surpassed the 200-hit/100-RBI plateaus for her career and set a new Utah mark for runs scored. She was selected with the No. 17 pick in the NPF Draft by the Scrap Yard Dawgs (Houston).
INSIDE THE SERIES
Washignton leads the all-time series record with Utah, 24-5. Their last meeting with the Utes was in Seattle when the Huskies won the series, 2-1. The Dawgs shut them out twice in a row, 6-0 and 8-0, but fell in the final game 6-5.
