March 08, 2017 | Women's Tennis
SEATTLE – The No. 25 Washington women's tennis team will remain home this week and open up their Pac-12 schedule, hosting Oregon on Friday at 2 p.m.
The match is scheduled to be televised by the Pac-12 Network and play outside if weather permits it.
The Huskies were home in the Nordstrom Tennis Center last weekend, hosting No. 11 Oklahoma State and falling in a tough 6-1 match before defeating No. 38 Northwestern 5-2. Washington remained at 25th in the country in this week's ITA Team Rankings, but earned four individual rankings across singles and doubles. Stacey Fung and Miki Kobayashi checked in at 121st and 123rd respectively in singles, with Nour Abbes and Kobayashi collaborating to earn the 26th national doubles rankings, and Stacey Fung and Kenadi Hance coming in at 69th.
The Ducks were in action last weekend as well, on the road in Boise, Idaho where they fell to Denver 4-2 before bouncing back with a win over Boise State 4-3. Sophomore Shweta Sangwan has led Oregon so far this season at the top court in singles, dropping her first match last weekend against Denver before bouncing back with a three-set win against Boise. Head coach Alison Silverio is in her third year at the helm, guiding the Ducks to a 6-5 record thus far. Last season, No. 36 Oregon came out on top of a tight match in Eugene, Ore. over No. 49 Washington 4-3, however the Huskies lead the all-time series 61-10.
While the match is scheduled to be televised and played outdoors at Bill Quillian Stadium, if the weather does not permit an outdoor match it will be moved inside to the Nordstrom Tennis Center where there will be a live stream and scoring page. The match will be free to attend at either venue, with pizza served to all between the doubles and singles.
