SEATTLE -- The University of Washington men's golf team returns to tournament play Saturday in the 15-team Arizona State University Thunderbird Invitational, played on the Sun Devils' own 7,002-yard, par-71 Karsten Golf Course in Tempe.
The Huskies, who are ranked No. 39 by Golfweek in the latest polls, will be joined in Tempe by Arizona, Arizona State, Cal Poly, California, Colorado State, Hawaii, Iowa State, Nevada, San Diego, San Francisco, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UNLV and Utah.
The field will play a total of 54 holes – 36 on Saturday and 18 on Sunday – at the par-71, 7,002-yard course with a 7:30 a.m. PT shotgun start on Saturday, and 7:30–8:00 a.m. PT tee times on Sunday. The host Sun Devils have won nine of the past 18 Thunderbird Invitational titles and 17 overall.
The Huskies are coming off a tie for third place at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Querencia, Mexico on Feb. 26-28. Washington was led by senior Corey Pereira who earned his fourth career win, carding back-to-back 4-under par performances.
Following this weekend's tournament, Washington will next compete in the Goodwin, March 30-April 1 in Stanford, Calif.
