Huskies In Eighth After First and Second-Round Action at ASU Thunderbird Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Washington men's golf team has three players in the top-35 and head into tomorrow's final round in eighth-place out of 16 teams following first and second-rounds of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational. The Huskies carded a two-round score of 7-under par (561) at the par-71, 7,013-yard Karsten Golf Course on Saturday (March 18).
Washington posted 1-under par (283) in the first round and 6-under par (278) in the second round.
"We have one more round to go and I am confident the guys will have a great day tomorrow," head coach Alan Murray said. "We were on the verge of a strong score today but just didn't get it done. We're excited to get out there tomorrow and put in a strong finish."
Senior Kevin Kwon led a trio of Washington players that carded rounds under or even par, finishing the day at 3-under par (66-73=139) and heading into tomorrow's final round tied for 18th place overall. Senior Corey Pereira (71-70=141) is tied for 26th place at 1-under par while sophomore Carl Yuan (75-67=142) is tied for 33rd at even par after two rounds of action on Saturday.
Freshman Daniel List (71-73=144) carded 2-over par and sits in a tie for 42nd place, while junior Frank Garber (77-68=145) bounced back to post a two-round score of 3-over par and sits in a tie for 46th place.
The Huskies head into tomorrow's final round 30 shots back of tournament host Arizona State, who leads the 16-team field with a combined score of 37-under par (531). Colorado State (-18), UNLV (-16), California (-14) and ASU's B-Team round out the top-five teams in the field.
Final round action begins at 7:30 a.m. PT tomorrow morning from Karsten Golf Course. Live scoring for the final round can be found here.
