
Washington Finishes In Eighth At John Burns Intercollegiate

LIHUE, Hawaii -- The University of Washington men's golf team shot an even par 288 on Friday (Feb. 17) to conclude the three-round John A. Burns Intercollegiate in eighth place. The Huskies finished with a team score of 4-over 868 overall at the Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Hawaii.
Virginia claimed the team championship with a 54-hole 29-under par 835, while Texas A&M placed second with a 25-under par 839. UNLV rounded out the top-three, finishing third with a 24-under par 840.
Washington was led by sophomore Carl Yuan who finished in the Top-20 individually, firing a 2-under 70 in the final round to tie for 13th place. The Orlando, Fla. native carded five birdies on the day, finishing the tournament with 11 total.
Senior Kevin Kwon tied for 26th with a 54-hole 1-over par 217 (73-73-71) and freshman Henry Lee followed close behind, tying for 32nd at 2-over par 218 (74-70-74).
To round out Washington's scoring, freshman Sam Warkentin tied for 47th with a 4-over 220 (72-75-73) and junior Frank Garber tied for 85th at 12-over 228 (77-75-76).
Texas A&M's Chandler Phillips earned individual medalist honors after shooting a three-round 15-under par 201.
Washington is scheduled to return to action Feb. 26-28 at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Querencia, Mexico.
