
Get To Know: Anissa Dadkhah

It didn't take long at all for Anissa Dadkhah to find her footing in Seattle. The transfer scored a goal in just her fourth game of the season during a stretch that saw her start seven games in a row. During Dadkhah's eight total starts, the Huskies allowed just three goals, going 6-1-1. The San Diego native will be back next year with her eyes on reaching the NCAA Tournament.
What does it feel like to play at Husky Soccer Stadium?
Dadkhah: I get most excited for the atmosphere. I know Seattleites all love soccer, so I'm excited to be a part of giving them a fun game to watch.
What is something the coaching staff has taught you off the field?
Dadkhah: Even from my first few experiences with the coaching staff, they taught me the importance of communication. Just giving updates on different academic and athletic info is super important and helps prevent any problems later on.
What is it like to play in the Pac-12 Conference?
Dadkhah: It's exciting to play against the best soccer players in the country! I think the West Coast boasts a different style of play than the East Coast, so I'm excited to be able to say I played in the ACC and the Pac-12 and got a taste of both.
What is your favorite thing about living in Seattle?
Dadkhah: The best thing about Seattle is the range of outdoor activities possible in and just outside the city.
What are your favorite things to do in the summer in Seattle?
Dadkhah: Spending time with my uncles and cousins that live locally! Going on hikes and walking around Greenlake and enjoying good Persian food at my uncle's house.
What are some of your earliest memories of playing soccer?
Dadkhah: Some of my earliest memories of playing soccer are with my dad and sister in our front yard. I actually grew up in Massachusetts, so another early memory is playing indoor soccer in Acton, MA.
Who is your biggest inspiration in why you play soccer?
Dadkhah: My biggest inspiration is definitely my family. They have put in so much time and money into supporting my passion for soccer and they inspire me every day to be better.
What do you love most about playing soccer?
Dadkhah: The best part about soccer is its ability to bring people together. Not only does it create lifelong friendships between teammates, but also a bond between a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds that share a common love for the game. Knowing that people around you love the game as much as you do is the best feeling.
Who were your favorite players growing up?
Dadkhah: My favorite players are Andres Iniesta and Xavi. I'm a Barcelona fan, so just about anyone on the team is one of my favorites. Lionel Messi is hands down the best player in the world and there is no one more fun to watch than he is.
Can you talk about some of the experiences in soccer that have changed your life?
Dadkhah: Soccer has opened up the most important opportunities and experiences in my life. Soccer has given me the chance to come to UW and meet all the amazing people that call Seattle home. The sport has changed my life introducing me to players, coaches, and fans of the game who have become family to me. These people have provided so much guidance in soccer, school, and in life in general and I know that many of them will be lifelong friends.
