Fung's Impressive Run In Riviera/ITA Women's All-Americans Comes To A Close

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Stacey Fung won two matches to make it to the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American main draw quarterfinals before dropping her third match on Friday.

Fung, ranked No. 18 in the ITA preseason poll, is the first Husky since current assistant coach Denise Dy to advance to the quarterfinals of the main draw. Dy advanced to the semifinals in 2010.

In her first match on Thursday, Fung defeated No. 5 seed Kate Fahey from Michigan in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

On Friday, Fung won her first match of the day, taking down Jessie Aney of North Carolina in two sets, 6-4, 7-5. However, her impressive run came to an end in the quarterfinals. She dropped the match 6-3, 6-3 to the No. 2 seed in the tournament, Gabriela Talaba from Texas Tech.
