
Washington Wins United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies were honored with the Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 year, the United Soccer Coaches organization announced Wednesday, October 18. The Huskies have won the Team Academic Award almost every season of the program's existence after this year's honor.
The Huskies had a 3.31 GPA as a team this last academic year, well above the 3.00 mark required for consideration for the award. In addition to winning the team award last season, the Huskies had 11 individuals make the Pac-12 All-Academic Team, the fourth time in the last five years at least ten Huskies have been honored so by the conference.
"Our team culture really thrives around being collectively successful academically which is very much in line with what the University of Washington is all about," said Head Coach Lesle Gallimore. "It is a great place because it is collaborative and supportive and I feel our team is an outstanding reflection of that. I'm extremely proud to coach women who value and maximize this opportunity."
So far this year, Washington is 9-4-2 with five games to play. The Huskies host #6 USC this Thursday, October 19 at 5:00 pm as part of Seattle Sounders and Reign Night. Tickets for that game are available online.
